Holy crap!!! Some years ago, I headed down to the Melbourne docks to check out the premier of a Melbourne street art documentary by a crew of visiting French producers – Julien Sena and Romain Levrault. Filmed during the Melbourne Stencil Festival in 2008, this was a grand snapshot of a whole bunch of artists at a time when Melbourne street art was already pumping.
I loved this doco – and over the years I’ve always kept my eye out for it, but it seemed to have disappeared into the ether … until now, when I did my usual browse and found it had been released over on Vimeo!!
“Painting of artistic life in Melbourne in 2008, focusing on the underground world of street art and its key players. Meeting with these bold characters, faced with paradoxes imposed by the city between illegality and popularity.”
Melbourne INK features some of the best known Melbourne street artists, Vexta, Reka, Rone, Phibs, Drewfunk, Ha-Ha, Andrew Chew, Andy Mac, Miso, Ghostpatrol and Meggs. Take half an hour out and watch this, right now – its grand!
