Well, I just got back from a cool little lunchtime adventure – I headed down to Southbank, where Secret Wars and Grill’d were doing a launch for the new Grill’d Airstream. They had Drewfunk and Scale battling it live, and free burgers for 90 minutes, all in the name of Burger Love.
I have a couple of minutes spare this afternoon, so thought I’d post up a few pics from it …
After the bucket load of rain this morning, it was a freakin hot’n’humid afternoon – I accidentally went the wrong way and ended up at fkn Crown, by the time I got there there was already a huge line – but, it was moving really swiftly and everyone was munching and gettin their burgers really quickly, those guys in there did a great job… the Airstream is a pretty cool retro-esque beast too.
Drewfunk and Scale were already a fair way through their pieces by the time I got there, I loved the burger themes in both of them.
Some hungry fish of Drewfunks circling around the burger-islands …
Scales burger looked pretty pissed – I don’t think I want to know what his ladyfriend-burger did to piss him off so bad, he’s totally gone all Falling Down haha.
The hardworking Secret Wars boys – big fkn kudos to them for always doing such a great job with the shows.
People just kept on queuing up, and stopping to watch the show..
90 minutes was up pretty quickly, and the artists stepped back for their work to be surveyed.
Drewfunk …
Scale …
In the end, there could only be one winner of the competition, and by a narrow margin, Scale took the day and the much coveted Burger Love trophy. Great work and many congrats to both the artists for a wicked display and some really cool work.
A fun excursion, too bad I’m back in the office now – apparently the Airstream got through making about 400 burgers in only an hour and a half! That, is a lot of fkn delicious, delicious Grill’d haha … get down to the next Burger Love show in St Kilda on Sunday where Deb and Pierre Lloga will be battling it out, and, of course, the next Secret Wars on Wednesday with Ken Taylor, and Deb … good times!
Just quickly put the rest of the photos up on our Facebook page as well … you should follow us while you’re there ;)
