Exhibition – Ed Bechervaise – Somewhere Gallery – VIC

I’ve seen Ed’s work all over the place in the past few years. From last years Five Hundred Faces exhibition to numerous works throughout various group shows, its kind of hard to miss his impressionistic style. In my eyes, his work stands out because of those glimpses he offers with bright, colourful snapshots – street scenes, vehicles, people watching, and the full flourish of the urban environment. So, its great to see him putting on another show – and this one looks to be delving even deeper into the expositional rabbit hole of Melbournes commercial and industrial areas …

“On Feburary 4th, I’m having a new show at Somewhere gallery called Fast Forward… I’ve been working away on this for the past eight months, drawing inspiration from Melbourne’s industrial surrounds and commercially driven districts. Melbourne is a city I’ve grown to admire, the diversity and cultural variety of this city continually inspires me, but like any progressive western hub it moves forward with an ever-increasing speed, mirroring that of its international big brothers. While the glossy layers and high tech increasingly infiltrate the main stream, Melbourne’s unique cultural under current bubbles away, offering a voice to those that seek to understand the things behind the curtains. It’s this open dialog that helps make this place so bloody great…”
