A friend of mine sent us this last week, and we couldn’t help but be happy to see it – the friend in question, Simonette Marbus, has been doing some amazing artwork work for several years now, but this is the first show that shes presenting in – well and truly about time! If you’re in Perth, make sure you get down and see it next month, not only is her work really cool, but the other exhibitors in the urban themed group show, Serena Lumley, Rita Trec and Gwenael Velge all have their own unique styles and images prepared for the show, ranging from paintings, illustrations (and you know we love illustration here), prints, film and photography – so there will be a bit of everything for everyone.
“Translated, “Parce Qu’on Aime” means “because we love it.” The show is a group exhibition of four emerging local Perth artists. The collection combines a variety of themes: urban landscape, kiting, surf and skate photography, peculiar illustrated creatures and imagery, paintings of haunting domestic settings and sensual illustration and paintings of the female form.
All four of us wanted our first exhibition to be simple, honest and fun. It was difficult to collaborate and explore one solid theme, as our work and creative backgrounds were so vastly different. However there was one theme that unified us all and that was that we simply did what we did, because we love it. This is an exciting opportunity to view up and coming talent on the local Perth art scene.”
