We only just got notice of this, and hopefully everyone gets a chance to check it all out! Its a busy week this week with a bunch of stuff on, but checking out the fruits of the entire Red Bull Wreckers competition? That’s something that has to be seen!

“Red Bull Gallery proudly presents a street art exhibition featuring spray painted works from the 2011 Red Bull Wreckers Yard, a Trans Tasman live graffiti painting competition that took place in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Auckland and Wellington throughout May and June this year.

The opening night in Sydney will be on Thursday 14th July between 6-10pm at Red Bull Gallery, 41 Bourke Road in Alexandria. 2011 Red Bull Wreckers Yard champion, Sofles (Bris), will also paint part of Red Bull HQ live at the opening as part of his grand prize pack. “I think through the Red Bull Wreckers Yard competition a lot of people have been able to show work which is usually shadowed by the night or frowned upon from public stigmas attached to the medium,” says Sofles. “The perspective is changing on graffiti and as people come around its true energy can be seen for what it is. I feel pretty lucky to have come any place against some really talented guys.”

The Red Bull Wreckers Yard Exhibition will feature all of Sofles artwork from the 2011 Red Bull Wreckers Yard Trans Tasman Final as well as selected works from each city’s qualifier round. These impressive artists will also feature in the exhibition: Itch (Melbourne), Gimiks (Brisbane), William (Perth), Store (Adelaide), Peque (Sydney), Yelz (Wellington), Seekayem (Auckland) and more. See some of the finest street art talent from Australia and New Zealand this July!”

We were at the finals for Wreckers Yard, and there was some damn cool artwork – would love to get a chance to see it up close and personal, alas, that teleporter hasn’t arrived yet … enjoy, Sydney folk!
