Indonesian born Melbourne based artist Nani Puspasari work is as cute as speaking her name!
Recently completing a Masters of Fine Art at RMIT University, and the first winner of the Bank of Queensland Encouragement Awards in 2008 (painting student category), it seems there is nothing this incredible young woman has not aimed to achieve.
From graphic design, illustration, painting, street art to handmade crafts and pattern making, whilst trying her hand at photography as well, Nani, who has been freelancing for five years, is quite something indeed.
Her final pieces contain gorgeous imagery and built up story lines which are captured from all sources, and delivered to the audience in a clever and optically very pleasing manner.
“In the exhibition, Nani Puspasari will create a narrative imaginary world between a Girl and an animal. This concept is based on childhood memories and popular culture. It aims to communicate feelings of innocence, naivety, loss and sorrow reflected through a series of drawings and paintings that will be informed by flat color, decorative components and stitching to explore her subject matter…”
The sad and sweet emotive quality of these innocent ‘acid-dream’ like works seem to penetrate without any pain, leaving a slightly sugar-coated, yet totally real taste in your mouths and minds.
Highly recommended show this one, we will be there right on the dot, with bells!
