We saw an exhibition last year in London with the title “Young Guns” and it was a pretty impressive lineup of Australian artists. Though we can’t really seem to see any connection between that one and this one that’s coming up at Linton & Kay in Perth, the line up itself is just as impressive. With several names in this group show that are leading the way right now in the Oz art world, its a great chance for those in the West to see what all the fuss is about, as well as to see the amazing talent that is coming out of Westralia.
“Saturday 25th February marks the debut of this eclectic body of work showcasing some of the hottest young artists in the Australian contemporary art scene. The impressive line up of ‘Young Guns’ includes local artists Abdul Abdullah, David Collins, Yvonne Zago, Tessa MacOnie and Matthew McVeigh from Perth with Michael Peck, Paul White and E.L.K. from Melbourne.
Featuring painting, photography and sculptural works this exhibition will be opened by guest speaker Dr Stefano Carboni (Director, Art Gallery of W.A.). Each with their own distinct style, the ‘Young Guns’ artists produce an exceptional standard of work in their chosen fields and this an exciting exhibition definitely not to be missed!”
We’ve also interviewed two of the artists on this list – Michael Peck and E.L.K. There’s a full press release in PDF here with even more details on the other talented creatives in the show as well, too.
Young Guns is a a seriously cool collection with some seriously cool artists in it – get onto it, P-towners.
