Over the last few weeks we’ve been seeing bits and pieces of work that Sync has been putting together for his first solo show in over ten years – and what we have seen, we really, really like.
As a member of the renowned Everfresh crew, Sync has a long history in the creative world. Starting out in sticker art and smashing Adelaide with them during his time as a bike courier, he then moved into multilayer stencils and beyond. Indeed, his “spektapod” characters have, over the years, become a real icon in Australian street art. He has also featured in several publications such as the Everfresh Black Book, and was a part of the National Gallery Space Invaders exhibition.
It is hard not to recognise a Sync piece when you see it – with flowing lines and movement, it’s a style that is definably his own. Yet one of the cool things we noticed with the teasers he has thrown out into the public over the last few weeks, are the directions he has been going in – his work has matured, grown and is most definitely moving into new and interesting areas.
We wish we could make it to this show – or that was on here in Melbourne, but, as it is, we’ll just have to sit back and wait for all the photos to roll in. Can’t wait!!
