There’s nothing we love seeing more than an awesome exhibition over in Perth, especially when that show contains a grand and diverse range of artists from across Australia.
The last time we visited FROM Gallery was before Xmas, and we had a chance to check out the ROA show first hand and have a chat to some of the gallery staff about the shows that they will be doing. Form work with the community – not only are they interested in pushing Perth street art and other emerging art practices, they also work with regional and indigenous communities to bring new forms of diversity in art to remote areas.
Living Walls is a great example of exactly the kind of thing that we love seeing them push to the P-town public.
“Living Walls showcases the work of a diverse selection of street and mural artists, illustrators and designers. Featuring established and emerging, local and national artists whose work is sought after for public commissions, commercial product and private collections, Living Walls encourages audiences to think differently about the potential for street, graffiti and mural art to transform the texture and appeal of urban landscapes, and to reach into private and commercial spaces.
Living Walls aims to connect artists, businesses and local councils to stimulate collaboration and enhance the city’s vitality whilst generating new income streams for artists through limited edition commercial product. Featuring the work of a group of innovative young artists, Living Walls will also extend beyond the art gallery into the city through a series of commissioned paste-ups.”
With some great artists on board, this looks like a great show of some great lowbrow, illustrative and street artists, including three favourites of ours that we’ve previously interviewed, Sean Morris, Beastman and Jodee Knowles as well as a plethora of other young, emerging artists all working with pasteups.
We encourage any and all Perthians to head down there and check it all out when it opens next week!
