What's Good!

Exhibition – Heesco – Manifest – Melbourne

Exhibition – Heesco – Manifest – Melbourne

We have been waiting in anticipation for this show for a very long time now. Our good friend, and one of the most inspirational individuals we know, Heesco, will be opening his latest body of work at Prahrans RTIST Gallery next week.

Read on for the full overview of this exciting show, Manifest, and what you can expect to see from an artist who has humbly, and with much talent and passion, quickly risen to the top of the game.

“Heesco moved to Australia from his homeland of Mongolia to pursue his passion for art, and has been making waves in the Australian art scene since.  With an ever-evolving style, Heesco’s works are thoughtfully realised and socially conscious of both his traditional and contemporary influences, doused as they are in surreal undertones and raw sensibility.

His experimental, emotive and genre defying artwork crosses effortlessly between fine art, street art, comics and illustration. Heesco’s works were exhibited extensively at Outpost Project in Sydney, as well as in group shows alongside artists such as Sam Leach, Anthony Lister and Michael Peck, to name a few. Heesco was also the winner of 2011 Secret Wars Finale in Sydney, and is currently based at one of the hotbeds of international street art, the Blender studios, Melbourne.

Within Manifest, Heesco delves into new, explorative directions previously only hinted at in his vast body of work.  Metamorphosing cultural boundaries, this latest show traverses multiple layers of expression in the form of a variety of scenarios and characters. Musical and urban influences, clashing head on with traditional imagery, also play an important role within Manifest.

With a distinct, transformative style, utilising aerosol, acrylic, light boxes and a new reverse stencil technique, Heescos new body of work retains the light-hearted, playful attitude of his street art. For all of its it levity, however, Manifest also consistently maintains a high degree of austerity – imbued as it is with a contemplative look at the way in which our dreams, aspirations and creative yearnings manifest themselves within our daily lives.

Manifest is a forward thinking, modern collection of work, and a landmark exhibition from an artist who has quickly risen to the top of the field in the emerging Australian art scene – both on the street, and within the gallery.”

Everything we have seen for this show so far has been extraordinary, and we’ll be sharing some of it with you later in the week after we visit the man in his studio – so stay tuned, there’s plenty  more to come!!
