This is one of those shows that you go to, look back on and say “I went to her first show” with a certain amount of pride at having done just that. Those who have been following Mikaelas work since she started putting it out there have been waiting for this one for quite some time – myself amongst them.

“THE WILD, the first solo show from Mikaela Jane, presents an eclectic mix of works that will challenges the viewers perception between the beautiful and sublime. Our curious attraction to “left-of-centre” aesthetics and subjects is piqued through Mikaelas painstakingly intricate pointillism, creating a deceiving appearance of simplicity with complex illustrative techniques.

As a self taught artist, Mikaela Jane draws from scenarios and thematic suppositions which others may perceive to be gauche or grotesque. Her love of anatomy and animals is manifested in black and white, and the celebrities that she depicts are chosen for their differential and quixotic nature.

From Lords of Seattle Grunge to the wrath of a Mandrill, THE WILD is a celebration of all that is peculiar within a society that has an, often unrequited, penchant for perfection.”
