Last night I had the immense fortune to see something that you just don’t see very often (indeed, I don’t think that its ever been seen before from these two guys …).
Two of Melbournes undisputed Kings, Paris and Peril, held a kick ass solo show together down at Revolver, and I fkn loved it. One of the best components of the show were the pieces that they created from old photos of trains that they’d painted in the past – taking the images, placing them on canvas, and then recreating by hand the panels in paint and marker on top of them. Really brilliant idea, actually – and, they were also selling some of their original photography of the trains to boot – which, if you’re an avid aficionado, was a great chance to actually own a nice piece of Melbourne graffiti history. The limited edition Dangerfork print was, as always, fkn rad and nicely done as well.
The only thing that is a shame, is that this show is already gone from the walls, as it was only on for one night … its something I would have loved to have seen over and over again – and if you missed it, man, you really missed out. Massive respect to these two guys for just doing what they do, and doing it fkn grand.
Check out the photos of the pieces below … Big thanks to David Russell for all the shots!
