I’ve always been a big fan of Miso‘s work starting off with her amazing paste ups adorning doors and walls around Melbourne, and everything she has done since. I’ve been loving Miso’s latest work including her series of tattoos; I was even lucky enough to watch her work her magic on friend’s arm. Miso’s latest work, like her intricate tattoos, is created by placing a series of tiny dots (pin pricks) on paper creating a stunning series of work. The preview shots look amazing, I can’t wait to see the rest of the show. The show opens next Friday night. Details below.
MISO – Bright Night Sky
From the Backwoods Press Release “As a tattooist and street artist, working under the name MISO, Stanislava Pinchuk’s artwork spans the globe, marking people and cities everywhere.
After so many years traveling, Stanislava has settled in her Melbourne studio. In a process of dreaming and mapping, she has begun retracing her life through delicate pinprick maps on white paper, detailing the cities she has called home.
Hidden within each ephemeral piece are her memories, routines and experiences of each city, as well as pathways leading to her friends houses across the world. The National Gallery of Australia recently acquired two of her pinprick works, making Stanislava one of the youngest artists in the national collection.
Bright Night Sky will be an exhibition of fourteen pinprick maps on paper and large installations by Stanislava, on display at Backwoods Gallery.”
