Exhibition – Alexandra Lederman – LandEscapes – Melbourne

Since moving down to Melbourne from Sydney, Alexandra Lederman has already made herself at home. Working out of the renowned Juddy Roller studios, she has wasted no time in putting on her first Melbourne solo show down at Collingwoods House Of Bricks.

This show, LandEscapes, showcases Alexandras surrealistic abstracted linework, juxtapozed with images of landscape from her imagination – and it works pretty damn well.

“LandEscapes is a series of work stemming from the creation of small worlds within Alex’s imagination. These realms are born using a controlled circular form, and are then allowed to evolve naturally through the whims of her subconscious.

Each work is based around a recognisable and relatable image, often a landscape or scene from nature – from here she continues to work non-sequentially, allowing sections of the realistic image to bleed and flow into a new abstract domain. Each image becomes a merging of realism and abstraction – things that we recognise and things we have to interpret.”

I’m a big fan of Alexandras work, and I’m looking forward to heading down to House Of Bricks next week to see it all!
