Presented by the Centre for Transcultural Studies at Temasek Pokytechnic, together with Clogtwo, Inkten and FreakyFir.
From The Ground Up : “Should the “Art in the Streets” be folded into the grand narrative of art history? At what price of sanitizing and stepping down for a good fit in museums and galleries? Rhetorical.”
“Street art IS the new paradigm where artists consider the urban landscape as their necessary working environment and in practice a language of their own, with learned codes, rules, hierarchy of prestige and means of communication. It can be a multidisciplinary platform where street culture intersects with traditional art form, initiating compelling improvisations and identities in the contemporary visual culture. Whether utopian or anarchic, aggressive or sympathetic, original or derivative, street artists work with a deep identification and empathy with the surroundings, using irony, humor, beauty, clever prank, critique to reveal their thoughts and emotions.”
“It is simply beautiful, making the invisible visible, the city re-imaged and re-imagined.”
The exhibition’s will be officially opening on the 28th of May 2014 and will last until 25th of June 2014. The first fifteen persons to attend the official opening will receive a limited edition print signed and numbered by Inkten, Clogtwo and FreakyFir.
