Exhibition – In The Shadows Of Mankind – Georgie Seccull

First a little story about why I am putting this post up, on Thursday like many others I attended the VIP opening of “The Art Of Basnksy” but we are not here to talk about that.

While in conversation with a few of my friends, Dvate, Putos, Sup, Merda, Sirum just to name a few, I happened to start a conversation with a lovely lady to my right we got talking about what we both do.

I overheard earlier that night she was having a show, unbeknown to me when I asked her what she was exhibiting she said sculpted pieces, I had no idea that she was the artists who’s work had been popping up on my on my Facebook feed for the past few weeks.

Turns out her name was Georgie Seccull the artist behind these amazing sculpted pieces I had see for the past few weeks, I was so blown away that she thought I was being sarcastic.

So this is why I said I would publish her event on Invurt, so make sure you all attend this amazing show.

In The Shadows Of Mankind

In the imaginary world of artist Georgie Seccull, blades of steel swiftly cut the air where feathers once plumed. Recycled timber, animal bones and spoons form exoskeletons for mechanical insects. In a prehistoric futurism, Seccull considers her personal mythology through external elements of creation and destruction.
“From salvaged materials, I have sculpted a highly evolved colony of hybrids. Each creature encapsulates the paradox of the man-made and natural world. My works address our individual and collective perceptions of polarities in existence, and how these observations inform our reality.
If psychological and biological mirroring connects us all in a very simple way, perhaps it is an inflated fear of destruction that impacts the promise of renewal. In this way, I invite us to reimagine what is possible by shifting our perception of future evolution.”
