Transit Patrol: An exhibition by Ron & Ransom coming to Revolver Upstairs for one night only 4th October 2019.

Melbourne’s transit system of the mid to late 80s was completely overrun by graffiti writers. Their work was everywhere, from trains to walls to the 6 o’clock news. From around 1986 until the end of the decade there was hardly a space in the entire city left unmarked. In stark contrast to the numbers of participants were the few who took them seriously, and the fewer still who made any serious attempt to document this period of time.

“Ron and Ransom were, respectively, a train driver and a graffiti artist, and both attempted to capture the age. They would often bump into each other on Richmond Station catching flicks of the latest trains, and from there a friendship and co-collection was born.”

30 years later, and for the first time, a limited selection of their work is available to view and for purchase on the night. All photographs are produced here from the original sources and printed on high grade archival paper, ensuring the best quality possible.
