‘Everything Is Borrowed’ by Callum Preston coming to KSR Art Bar this October, November & December.

The exhibition features a collection of mixed-media, multi-dimensional works; raw and hand-painted timber-panel pieces; and canvas works, all constructed on-site. Callum has built an entire workshop made from recycled materials inside KSR Art Bar, the walls are adorned with old signs; offcuts; tools; personal sketches; notes; photos, and wondrous odds and ends.

Everything Is Borrowed is a tribute to the objects people gather throughout their lives that hold enormous value to them.

“The open workshop gives members of the public an insight into a well-worn studio and a glimpse into the inner workings of an artist who’s been chipping away at his craft for years. And, of course, the trinkets and trophies abound: ticket stubs; coins; matchbooks; Zippo lighters; cameras; spectacles; candles; snow globes; vases; tools; pocket knives, and crushed paint tins. Exposure to one man’s trash will surely inspire the memory of a world of treasures for all who enter.”

Along with the exhibition Callum will also be holding an artist talk during the day on Thursday 21st between 12 – 1pm at KSR Art Bar. So have a long lunch or wag uni so you can get a glimpse inside the wonderful and wacky mind that is Callum Preston.
