1000 Pound Bend is about to welcome a new addition, in the form of Rancho Notorious, their new upstairs gallery and cinema space. More galleries means more outlets for artists to get their work out, and with a highly experienced and knowledgeable crew behind it, theres no doubt in our minds that the new incarnation of Rancho Notrious is going to be a huge, beautiful success.

Up The Bend will be their first big group event and opening show, and it has a stellar line-up attached – and, have to say, we’re also really excited to see a Saturday night exhibition opening – why the hell don’t people do more openings on Saturdays anyways? Anyways, read on for the story behind the newly re-incarnated gallery …

“In 2005, attached to the side of one of Melbourne’s most infamous bars St Jerome’s, Caledonian Lane was graced with an intimate Gallery space/shop… Rancho Notorious.

Rancho harnessed Melbourne’s Street Culture, with a small shop selling t-shirts, paint, skate decks and more while allowing it to be transformed into a Gallery for awe-inspiring exhibitions. Closing in 2008 along with St Jerome’s, Rancho Notorious is now back! Bigger, better and ready to make your hair curl!

Rancho Notorious is an independent Gallery and Cinema. Situated upstairs at 1000 Pound Bend as a unique, rustic space all about supporting local, national and international artists wanting to exhibit in a space not quite like the rest.

With its raw walls and floors, and 1950s style seating Rancho Notorious is the most striking, memorable place to hold your next exhibition or screening… and to get it all started they’re having a MASSIVE Group show called ‘Up The Bend’ featuring an amazing line up of artists including: 23rd Key, Adam Oehlers, Aida Sabic, Ash Nolan, Ashley Duggan, Ben Capp,  Bec Winnel, Bridge Stehli, Caitlin Rigby, Deb, Does, Dvate, Drypnz, Ears, ELK, Gary Seaman, HAHA, Itch, Jack Douglas, Kaitlin Beckett, Kitty Horton, Luke Ryan, Makatron, Monkey, Nom Kinnear-King, Rebecca Murphy, Rena Littleson, Sam Octigan, Scale, Sear and Sirum”
