For many years Dave Russell has contributed to this site as our primary photographer, and over those years I’ve seen first hand how much his photography has evolved – when the date for 32k, his first solo show, finally rocked around, I knew I was going to see something damn cool.
Yet for all of my expectations, I was admittedly, surprised – in a great way. Seeing his photos online and being able to appreciate them is one thing, seeing them blown up into large printed images is another – they were larger than life, colourful, and at times capturing an exacting essence of his work.
Also included in the show were the results of some of his recent experimentation, night photography, colourful contracted saturations, and it was these that showed me some of the direction that he is going in with his work, and I cant wait to see his next show.
We here at Invurt wouldn’t be what we are without Daves input, and seeing him grow as an artist makes us appreciate his presence even more – with images of the pieces in the exhibitions, as well as shots from AllThoseShapes, check out all them below, and see what we’re talking about when we say he’s fucking rad.
