It’s good to see Shida back in town, albeit briefly, as well as see a new space from the lads from Backwoods, over in Footscray.

David Russell and I were privileged to pop in a week before the opening and have a sneak peak of some of the completed works as well as many of the works in progress. We chatted about Shida’s recent adventures and his plans for the next few months, it was good to catch up after a long time!!! Check out some studio and teaser photos below. From what we saw, this is going to be an awesome show. So head over to Footscray this Friday evening and we will see you there!

From the Backwoods Press Release: “Shida @Mik_Shida, is ‘Summoning Lovers out of Time’ at our new space, west of the city at Backwoods Studios, 40 Moreland Street, Footscray.

This new site-specific series of fluorescent artworks explores the relationship between ritual, sexuality and love, where psychedelic entities are entwined in a ceremonial act transcending the bounds of known reality.

Backwoods Studio also opens this month. A multi-purpose Art Space and Studio. Our plans for the future place it at the centre of a lot of dope projects on the West Side. More info about this in our next newsletter. Until then, see you at Shida’s opening.”
