Ah, Mondays, so many events announced – this one though, has us irrepressibly curious and excited!
It’s always exciting when a new gallery opens up, and even more exciting when one comes along with a talented team behind its inception, as well as a well thought out, progressive vision for what it wants to accomplish.
“This exciting new concept emerges from collaboration between Stephen Nall, formerly Dickerson Gallery and artists Adrian Doyle and Joel Gailer. Doyle and Gailer have previously directed Michael Koro Galleries (MKG) …
‘It will exhibit ground-breaking young emerging artists and a handful of influential established artists,’ Nall says. … The philosophy of the gallery has been to provide project space for experimentation in a nurturing environment. The gallery will appeal to cutting edge artists that just need the right environment and experienced support to flourish. I am confident that this ‘experiment’ will make a big impact on the commercial gallery art scene in Melbourne, which has been devoid of anything that really inspired me for years’ says Nall. ‘The artists we represent will often have hidden qualities – ‘dark horse’ status, if you will. Curatorial selections will be determined on the basis of a quality aesthetic however there will be an emphasis on what’s new and relevant now.’”
Dark Horse Experiement looks like it will be just that, an experiment – and thats something that everyone can easily get hyped about. With the talents of renowned Melbourne art advocate Adrian Doyle combined with the experience and visions of Gailer and Nall, well, we’re really looking forward to big things for this new endeavour – and check out this line up for their inaugural exhibition “The New Field” – that just says it all, really …
