Friday the 26th of July see’s the next installment of Backwoods Forewood presents at Backwoods Gallery, Collingwood.
The night will boast two talented multidisciplinary artists, a French artist with a background in graffiti, Rashe. The other, David Cragg a man of many talents with Irish, Scottish and Bundjalung ancestry.
Both shows are curated by Tom Groves and we are always excited to see what the brains behind Backwoods brings to the table. We are never disappointed and have a very strong feeling this one should be on everyone’s radar as well.
“Since our beginnings, Backwoods has always fostered local and young artists. As we move into the future, Backwoods Forewoods aims to stay true to this ethos, fostering relationships with the next generation of up and coming Australian artists. Through this program, Backwoods Forewoods will spotlight young and local talent through a series of weekend exhibitions designed to support and promote our favourite emerging artists.”
Backwoods Forewood presents are always short but sweet so get in quick to check out these fantastic shows.
“Autopilot is a reflection on and critique of automation within our modern society. Focusing on the Contemporary Sublime, a technique developed by Andreas Gursky in which a post-modern exploration on the societal hive mind approach to living is examined, Rashe extends his analysis to encompass Artificial Intelligence and the crucial influence it plays on human development.”

“David Cragg’s new exhibition provides an opportunity for reflection and exploration into the effects humans have on the Australian Country. Through contrasting sweeping landscapes of Australian bush with varied industrial elements, Cragg places himself into the role of a reconnoitre, overlooking the humanistic impact on the dwindling fringes of native flora and fauna.”
