Thursday Transmissions – Area 51, Flame & Seek

Well, its been a bit of a week here back at Invurt HQ, with missing cats, crazy flatmates, and exhibition openings coming out of our ears … thankfully though, we have this weeks videos to catch up on to chill to, and, damn, there are some great ones this week! Well, we know we say that every week, but they seem to just get better and better all the time!

First up, Cinzah Seekayem has been doing a bunch of community work lately over in NZ – “I was privileged to be asked to work with a great bunch of kids as part of this years ‘Sole Project’ put on by Nga Rangatahi Toa Arts Initiative. The Sole Project, is a week long intensive one on one, student/mentoring workshop, working with youth in alternative education. The week involved research and development, concept sketch sessions, education about creativity and using aerosols as a art medium, can control and mark making techniques, the production of a mural, work of art, and a exhibition showcasing the work created. Which is currently on now at Ponsonby’s Art Station in Auckland. This video features the work our Josh Paki and my kids work – Pa and William. Ka pai!”

Next up, whilst we’re on the NZ tip, good friend and master of the crazy large pasteup, Drab was over in Aotearoa last week as well, where he put a whole heap of pieces in a few of the Area51 stores – mint!

CDH is the man. Not only is he hilariously funny in his street art activism, but the man constantly evolves both his work as well as his materials. Fire +street art = hell yeah. This is his latest “Naping” experiment …

Urban Cake Ladys show finished up this week, and if you didn’t get a  chance to see it, well, that’s a huge shame – it lived up to the hype, and not only was the work beautiful, but the gallery transformation was also something to be seen. Grand.

Does and Askew, with the help of Vans the Omega put together a great wall a few months ago, and heres the video of the creation ..

Ahhh Zonkvision … what more is there to say? Haha …

Just to finish off with something different – Body Canvas 2011 is coming up soon, and we spotted this really brief clip for the promo of it – we know that there’ll be a whole bunch of Melbournian artists taking part in this charity event, so keep your eyes peeled for more!

That’s it for this week – again, if you have anything, please feel free to send it over to us and we’ll include it in our weekly Transmissions!
