So the week has come and gone, with all the news and events of the day. I’ve been eating Glicks bagels again most mornings, and trudging through my week of work in the hopes of finding my way to Friday – and here it is, Friday in all its glory. So, we’ll recap on the week, as far as we can … so here’s the run down on what happened this week in Burn City and around the traps …
Exhibits
- We got down to the LTRHDS exhibition opening the other week, and found the work to be just as fantastic as we had thought. The work is still up, and in addition, you can buy the exhibition book – we did, and its rad. Heres some photos of the opening that the guys from Nice Produce put up. Don’t forget that all the artists interviews are also up on the website, and they’re a really great read.
- Spent a bit of time at the launch of the We Make Stuff Good online kiosk that we interviewed some of the girls about, which was a fun evening – go buy stuff, its good.
- Highlander Gallery and the Greenwood Gallery both announced exhibitions with urban art themes or urban artists taking part.’
- Sketch City has their Ladies Love Sketch City gig on this Saturday 12th, which should be a hell of a lot of fun.
- Brunswick Street Gallery will be opening their Urban Art 10a exhibition tonight, Friday 12th, that we spoke to Tessa Yee about last week.
- At Large Gallery opened up a new show this week, Hello My Name Is – with a bunch of cool work up on the walls, try to get down to see it – this newish gallery really has some great shows going on. This will be followed by their next gig, SLAPSTICK on the 20th of March.
Citizens
- We interviewed Makatron from Everfresh – great guy, great work. Cant wait to see more stuff coming out from his direction.
- A favorite of ours, Mr Jago, has put up a new website (via Nice Produce).
- We’re highly looking forward to the Niagra Phobia exhibition at Outre Gallery in a fortnight, should be pretty cool. Niagra is a well known artists whose been around for a lengthy time, and her work is superbly cool. Register for the opening on the Facebook event page.
Rumour
- We’re all wondering if this is a teaser for a Banksy Exhibition here in Melbourne at the Metro Gallery? Signs seem to indicate so with both the image and the infamous tagline … but this rumours been around for a while now so we’ll wait and see ..
Ephemerals
- Have you seen the teaser promo for the new Ironlak reload cans? If not, here it is – via the Ironlak blog.
Wraps
- Ccoming up in the next week, we have interviews back and in and awaiting writeups from Blue Bars DJ Leroy, Aaron Static and americans first lady of breakbeats, Reid Speed, so hopefully they’ll be going up sooner rather than later – we’re also scouting out for a bunch of interesting artists to interview, as well as featuring a couple of galleries here and there.
- If anyone has any suggestions or wants to throw some news this way, then please feel free to contact us via the contact page – we’re interested to hear about your gigs, news and anything else you may want to send us.
Its all go, all good. Hope everyone has a great weekend and gets out and about to a few galleries and gets smashed good and proper at whatever gigs they’re heading to.
