We love discovering new and cool artists, and Laura Brown fits that mold for us perfectly – her intricate, and insanely detailed, patterned illustrations have really piqued our curiosity, and we’re hoping one day to be able to see it in the flesh!
“Blonde Venus and Earl Grey Events are pleased to announce Viscous, an exhibition by Brisbane emerging artist Laura Brown.
The exhibition will present a new series of fine line drawings on paper. The intensely intricate works command attention in a refreshingly unorthodox respect.
Disregarding customary postmodern shock-tactics, the drawings lure the viewer in by their sheer complexity of detail. Requiring a perpetual step closer, one must almost breathe the works in to truly experience them.
Laura Brown is an emerging Brisbane artist, writer, and independent curator. Whilst currently studying fine art at QCA, she has worked singularly and collaboratively on various exhibitions, publications, and projects. She has worked with numerous artist run initiatives, commercial galleries, and institutions – and will be launching a new platform in 2012. Viscous will be her first solo show.”
This is one impressively multitalented lady, and we’re keen to see what else she comes up with in the future! If you’re in Brisbane, make sure to get down and check it out – click on the image below for a larger version!
